Couple ask their Wedding Guests to Give to Soweto Connection
A South African and Irish couple who will get married in April have decided to ask all of their guests to donate to Soweto Connection instead of buying them a gift.
Penny Sneedon and Derek Slein are getting married on the 3rd April in Northampton in the UK. Penny, who is from Durban in South Africa, and Derek, who is from Clontarf in Dublin, thought this would be the perfect option.
All the money donated will go directly to supporting Soweto Connection's partner groups in South Africa. These continue to struggle against huge disadvantage in townships and informal settlements that lack infrastructure, and have high levels of poverty and disadvantage. Families and especially children who are affected by HIV/AIDS continue to need help in order to get basic education and medical care.
We are grateful to Penny and Derek for their generous support, and we hope they and their guests have an enjoyable day celebrating the marriage.
